If you’re visiting LAX airport in LA, California, the airport offers convenient transportation in the form of the Flyaway Bus. This guide will go over everything, including the LAX flyaway schedule.
We all know that when you travel, one of the first things you have to figure out is how you’re going to get from the airport to your accommodations.
While there are several different flyaway buses that travel from LAX to various regions within LA, the most popular bus goes to Union Station. Many travelers take this bus and then use the metro to go to their desired location.
Other stops include Long Beach, Hollywood, and Van Nuys. A trip to Union Station or Van Nuys from LAX will take about 30 minutes, while a trip to Long Beach or Hollywood takes about an hour.
Where is Flyaway at LAX
Finding the Flyaway Bus once you’re at LAX is relatively simple:
- Go through security & customs
- Leave the airport
- Find the nearest Flyaway Bus pick-up point using signposts
- Ask an employee if you cannot find it
There is a Flyaway Bus pick-up point at every single terminal, so you should be able to access one no matter where you land easily.
How Does LAX Flyaway Work

Currently, the one-way fare price from LAX to Union Square Station or Van Nuys is $9.75 USD. Tickets are valid for 30 days after purchase. You can buy your tickets online in advance or pay for the trip once you reach the station using the Metrolink vending ticket machines. These machines accept:

If you’re planning to go to Hollywood or Long Beach through the Flyaway Bus, the trip will cost you slightly less at $8.00 USD.
Special deals are available as well. Employees can purchase a monthly employee pass for $120 USD a month, and children under the age of 5 travel for free.

Finding the Flyaway Bus at Your Location
If you’re at Union Station and trying to reach the airport, you can find the Flyaway Bus at Bus Stop 1 in the Patsaouras Transit Plaza. Haven’t bought your tickets online yet? You’ll need to go to the ticket booth, located between bus stop 9 and bus stop 1, to get your ticket.
If you’re in Long Beach, you can find the Flyaway bus stop at the corner of 1st Street and Long Beach Boulevard or in the Long Beach Transit Gallery. Look for Shelter A.
If you’re by Hollywood, the Flyaway bus stop address is 1627 North Vine Street. This is situated between Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards and is a short walk away from the Metro Red Line at Hollywood and Vine Station.
Ticket Rules
In general, the Flyaway Bus ticket rules are relatively flexible. Flyaway Bus does not demand that the passenger’s name matches the name on the ticket, and one-way tickets can be used in either direction ( if you purchase a ticket from LAX to Union Square, you can still use it to get to LAX from Union Square).
You can use an electronic or hard-copy ticket. Tickets are on a first-come, first-serve basis, so you cannot reserve seats or time slots. If you need to return your ticket for some reason, Flyaway Bus’s refund policy dictates that all refunds should be conducted within 30 days of the ticket purchase.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I buy my tickets with cash?
The only Flyaway Bus ticket machines that accept cash are the ones located in Union Square station. The other routes do not accept cash payments.
How early should I arrive at the bus stop?
In general, you should try to be at the bus stop about 10 minutes before your scheduled departure. The bus will stop accepting passengers two minutes before the planned departure time, so you cannot rush to the bus last minute.

Passengers are allowed a maximum of three stowed bags and one small carry-on item (such as a purse or small bag).
For safety reasons, all luggage should be labeled with your name and address. You can read more about the Flyaway Bus baggage policy here.
