If you’ve ever dreamed of becoming a Jedi and having your own lightsaber, you will definitely want to visit Savi’s Workshop at Hollywood Studios in Disney World. There, you can build your own lightsaber under the guidance of “Gatherers” who will help you choose from one of four hilt themes.
You will then select a kyber crystal (red, blue, green, or violet) and build the hilt of your lightsaber. The workshop provides all of the materials you need, and when your lightsaber is complete, you’re ready for new adventures in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The experience is $219.99 per lightsaber plus tax, and payment will be due the day you build your lightsaber.
But there’s so much to review so let’s get started!
First, make a reservation to build your lightsaber at Savi’s
Building a lightsaber is an experience that many people wish to have. To build your own, you will need advanced reservations for the popular attraction in Hollywood Studios and they are limited so it’s best if you book 60 days ahead of time on the Disney Website!
There is no fee to reserve, however, you do need to use a credit card in case you are a no-show. In that case, you will be charged the entire price of the lightsaber.
There isn’t any charge when making them or showing up late as long as the cancellation occurred online beforehand by stopping at Savi’s or canceling online.
If you’re unable to grab a reservation online, you can also try your luck by visiting Savi’s Workshop in person. While there are a number of walk-up spots available, they’re first-come-first-serve and not guaranteed so I recommend arriving early if you want to do one yourself!
The reservation is for one person plus one guest so keep in mind that you will not be able to bring everyone in to watch the build. For small children that would otherwise be left unattended, Cast Members will make an exception at their discretion.

How to find Savi’s Workshop
Located in Black Spire Outpost, finding Savi’s Workshop is not easy. The shop’s signs are written with Aurebesh so use a park map for reference. It doesn’t help that building lightsabers have been done secretively all along with either! This workshop is going to remain top secret.
The workshop is located between Droid Depot and Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, also across from Ronto Roasters. If you end up asking around if you can build a lightsaber, you will be told that Savi only deals in “scrap metal.”
Choosing your lightsaber build
When you arrive at the workshop, you and your guest will be asked to choose a lightsaber build.
There are four build choices that you can make, each with its own color crystal. Choose wisely!
The build styles are as follows:
Peace and Justice
Salvaged scraps from fallen Jedi temples and crashed starships in these Republic-era designs honor the galaxy’s former guardians.
Power and Control
Originally forged by dark side warriors, this style features rumored remnants from the Sith homeworld and abandoned temples.
Elemental Nature
This theme embodies the Force—energy created by all living things, like Brylark trees, Cartusion whale bones, and Rancor teeth.
Protection and Defense
Hilt materials bear mysterious motifs and inscriptions that reconnect users with the ancient wellspring of the Force.
For a Star Wars fan, this is the best part of finding themselves in official custody. You are then given a pin to wear that symbolizes your choice of the lightsaber as well as a color-coded card that will represent the builders you’re with.
You begin with choosing the heart of your lightsaber — the kyber crystal. The crystal determines the color of your blade. The available colors are red, blue, green, or violet. You are not limited to just one color, you can purchase additional crystals at Dok-Onder’s Den of Antiquities next door.
After that, you’re able to select your hilt which will be made of parts based on the theme you chose in the beginning. The Gatherers will provide the parts so that you can start building.
All in all, here are the parts you’re working with:
- 1 hilt
- 2 emitters (pick 1)
- 4 sleeves (pick 2)
- 2 pommel caps (pick 1)
- 2 sets of activation plates and switches (pick 1 set)
The hilt will now be forged to its blade.
The Gatherers will take your lightsaber to the stabilization chamber.
Master Yoda’s voice booms through the air, filling every corner of this room with its majestic tone. “The time has come for a new generation,” he says in his antiquated language that only those who have been trained from birth can understand. The assembled builders step forward and place their hands on handles to activate their lightsabers.
Everyone raises their lightsabers and BAM, this is the best part. The feeling between the music and the humming lightsabers is unforgettable.
You will receive a sheath on the way out in order to protect your new lightsaber and keep the First Order’s hands off of it.
Now, take that new, awesome lightsaber and take a load of photos all over Batuu!
