With all of these savings methods on Disney gift cards, we must recognize what we can do with them.

The fastest way to get rid of those Disney gift cards is before you get to Disney World.  You can start using your gift cards to pay for your Disney vacation package/Disney hotel stay.

You can also purchase theme park tickets from Disney with your Disney gift cards. While you are at Disney World, you can use Disney gift cards at all Disney merchants at the resorts, in the parks, and in Disney Springs (including places to eat)

If you want to use your MagicBand to charge things to your room, you can head over to the front desk as often as you’d like to pay off that balance with your discounted Disney gift cards. Make sure to do so at least once, 36 hours before you check out.

While Disney does not offer any specific gift card deals, there are a few ways that you can get some decent Disney gift card deals.

If you don’t have any other options, anything less than a 5% savings may not be the greatest deal.

As mentioned above, earning a 5% minimum discount is simple. It doesn’t require any more consideration, planning, or hoops to jump through. If you’re going out of your way for a 3% discount, it’s not worth it.

Let’s consider a 5% discount as the minimum.

If you absolutely have to purchase the item and can get a discount by being a member of Sam’s Club or BJ, then go for it. Even though it might be just 4-5%, it’s better than full price.

Stacking Deals for Better Disney Gift Cards Deals

Complications increase from this point forward, though the potential savings do as well.

Swagbucks is a great way to earn rewards for your everyday activities, and it can also be a valuable tool for saving money on your next Disney vacation.

I swear by Swagbucks and have used it to pay for a weekend at Disney World.  As proof, here are my lifetime earnings.

This amounts to $6,320.

By signing up for Swagbucks, you’ll earn points for every dollar you spend on travel-related purchases, including airfare, hotels, and rental cars.

Save Money with Raise.com

First off, let’s go over how Raise.com works:

You’ll hear about it repeatedly on this page and all over my site. My family and I took a trip to the movies, where I could save 10% off movie tickets by buying discounted Fandango gift cards on Raise.com. I used my cash rewarding credit card when I purchased the movie gift card from Raise.  I then combined the money I saved; in this case, my ticket total was close to $50, so let’s say $5, and the 2% cashback to the side towards my future vacation.  

If you can save $6 just 50 times a year or $10 just 50 times a year, that’s $300 to $500 extra money in your pocket.

Credit Card Cash Back Rewards

Many people are familiar with the concept of credit card rewards, but not everyone realizes that these rewards can be used to save money on vacation.

For example, we are trying to find ways to save on your Disney vacation, and many credit cards offer cash back rewards that can be applied toward the cost of a trip.

By using a cash-back credit card to pay for travel expenses, it is possible to reduce the overall cost of a Disney World vacation.

In addition, many credit cards offer additional perks such as travel insurance and baggage protection, which can further offset the cost of a trip.

We will definitely be leveraging cash back rewards from credit cards to increase our overall Disney gift card deal.

Cash Back Portals

We want more and more cash in our pockets, right?

Fortunately, there are a few different ways to do just that. One option is to use a cashback portal like Rakuten. When you purchase y through Rakuten, you’ll earn a percentage of your purchase price back in the form of cashback.

Rakuten is one of the largest e-commerce companies in the world. It was founded in 1997, and it now operates in over 30 countries.

Let’s get into our first method. 

Target 

Buying Gift Cards at Target with Raise.com and Target REDCard

This method involves the use of the Target REDCard. The Target REDCard is a Target-exclusive store card that offers you a variety of benefits, including 5% off at Target and Target.com, free 2-day shipping, and 1 extra month of returns. There’s both a debit and credit version offered. In order to maximize the savings with this method, you will have to already have a Target REDCard.  

To get your hands on a Disney gift card, head over to Raise and search for Target gift cards.  Sort the gift cards by % off.  A good deal is about 4% off, but you can get more.  After you’ve purchased your discounted Target gift card(s), you will get them digitally in your email.

Once you have the information on the gift cards, you can go ahead and load them onto your Target.com account.  Make sure your RedCard is also saved to your Target account to take advantage of that extra discount.

As of 2017, Target has slowly caught on to the online ordering of discounted Disney gift cards but I’ve still had luck in-store.  Here are a few methods said to still work to get them online:

1. Purchase a higher amount of discounted Disney gift cards than the Target gift cards you have.
2. Add other items to your cart as well.  Don’t only purchase the discounted Disney gift cards.

When you check out at Target, use your gift cards as payment first and put the remaining cost on your RedCard.  If you don’t have a RedCard, use a good cash-back credit card to earn more money.  

Occasionally, Target and the stores I mention in the next section will have special discounts on gift cards throughout the year, especially around key holidays like Christmas, which can really help you out with savings. You’ll have to close your eyes for the sales, but it’s worth it.

Target Savings Example

Let’s take a simulated example of the easiest way to get Disney gift cards deals: Target. Let’s say a family of 4 wants to do a 5-day park hopper ticket.

Dining Tickets With Park Hopper (3 adults, 1 child): $2,673.81

• Total 5% savings: $133.69

Purchasing Disney gift cards with my Target REDcard ended up saving me almost 134 dollars in the long run- it was pretty much a no-brainer decision.

Walmart

The above method can also be applied to other retailers such as Walmart. As of right now, on Raise, Walmart gift cards are currently up to 0.9% off. This means that using Walmart’s gift card may not be as lucrative right now as using Target’s (which is currently at up to 2% off), but the percentages tend to change constantly, so you should continue to check daily in order to snag the best deal. 

Raise even allows you to set alerts on specific retailers.

When grabbing a Walmart or Target e-card or gift card to purchase your discounted Disney gift card, you want to read each retailer’s policy on using e-cards to buy other gift cards. As said previously, Target has somewhat caught on to using this online money-saving trick, as has Walmart, so you want to be sure everything is airtight before making your purchase.

BJ’s

Save up to 10% off of Disney gift cards with BJ’s Wholesale Club. They now require you to have a membership, which at its cheapest is $55 a year, but there are many other savings to take advantage of for everyday items at BJ’s. Also, sometimes throughout the year, they offer memberships at great discounted rates. The wholesale club also offers great sales on gift cards throughout the year, and it’s not just Disney cards. 

You can try out BJ’s with a free one-day pass and buy all of the gift cards you need for your trip.

Here’s how you can use your membership to save a bunch of money on Disney gift cards:

Head over to a cashback portal like Rakuten to start with a 1% (current rate) cashback on BJ’s purchases. Either search for the BJs website on Rakuten or download the crime extension, head to the BJs website, and select “Shop Now” to activate a shopping trip.

When you are on BJ’s website, search for “Disney gift cards” to see your options. These discounted Disney gift cards will be marked 4% off.

When checking out, try using a credit card with a reward system, like cashback. My card of choice is the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

With the credit card cash back, you are looking at an additional up to 5% back.

• Rakuten -1%+
• BJs Discount – 4%
• Credit Card – 5%
• Total !0%

Sam’s Club

You can try Disney gift card deals with Same’s Club in a few different ways. 

Method 1

The first method you could use is what we discussed for BJ’s.  Again, here you need a membership which will cost you about $45 for the year.

Use Rakuten for an additional discount on the Sam’s Club website to buy their discounted Disney gift card and pay with a cashback reward credit card.

Method 2

The second method is to use gift cards you purchase from Raise.com at a discount to pay for the Disney gift cards you purchase at Sam’s Club.

Since the same company owns Walmart and Sam’s Club, you can use Walmart gift cards interchangeably.  As I mentioned above, Walmart gift cards are currently discounted. 

Sam’s Club will often have discounted Disney gift cards at 4-5% off, and they sometimes sell them in bundles of three, which you should take advantage of. 

Using your Chase Sapphire Preferred can bring that to almost 10-12% off Disney gift cards.

Best Buy

Best Buy has Disney gift cards at 10% off. This is a new deal and can usually only be done once.

Unfortunately, you’re stuck with only a single $50 Disney gift card to purchase, but hey, it’s 10% off.

This deal is made possible by purchasing an electronic Disney gift card online at Best Buy’s website. In order to qualify for the discount, you must have a Best Buy account.

Simply go to the Disney gift card website and look for them. You’ll notice a digital Disney gift card for $45 rather than $50 on the website. Add it to your cart, pay for it, then check your inbox.

You are only able to purchase one card per account- there is no option to change the quantity in your cart.

People have attempted to reorder on a different day, but this has had limited success. It seems that sometimes the order is accepted, and other times it is canceled after it has been placed.

Another thing you could do is create Best Buy accounts for both you and your partner–that way, you could get two cards. Or maybe use different email addresses for the accounts.

Chase Card Offers

If you’re looking for a way to earn some extra cashback, check out any chase card offers that might be available.

For example, you could sign up for a credit card that offers 5% cash back on all purchases. But these special offers can give you 10% cash back on your purchase. Either way, these offers can provide a great way to boost your earnings.

You would then use your Chase card at this store to purchase Disney gift cards.

Be sure to read the terms and conditions carefully before you apply so that you know exactly what you’re getting into.

 

Combine Disney Gift Cards

I like to save up for my Disney vacation by collecting gift cards throughout the year, an I usually have 10+ by the time I am ready to use them. 

Lucky for me, there is a way to combine Disney gift cards at this Disney website.

There’s no cost, and it’s easy to do. The most you can move onto one Disney gift card is $1,000, which is more than enough to decrease how many cards you are walking around with. 

Once you get to 5 Disney giftcards, you will have to delete cards with no balance from “My Cards” to add more.  

Other Ways to Save Money for Disney

Credit Card Point Systems

As I mentioned earlier, with Chase Sapphire Preferred, a few credit cards offer great rewards that can save you a lot of money on your next Disney vacation! 

Here’s why I chose Chase Sapphire Preferred:

• 1%-3% rewards
• 50,000 point sign up bonus
• No foreign transaction fee
• Travel Insurance
• Car rental insurance
• 1:1 transfer to reward programs (like Southwest Rapid Rewards)
• No blackout dates, no travel restrictions.

Chase has a few credit cards that offer great cashback offers, including Chase Freedom Unlimited and Chase Freedom Flex, which both offer 1%-5% cash back. Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express offers 1%-6% cashback, while Discover it Cash Back offers 1%-5%. Of course, your perfect credit card depends on your credit score and what you are looking for.

Many other cards offer points back or miles back, which is well-suited for frequent travelers. This is just another way to rack up savings while doing what you normally do every day. 

Kroger Fuel Points

If you have a Kroger grocery store in your area, you can purchase Disney gift cards, earn fuel points, and save on gas.  Here’s how:

When you shop at a Kroger grocery store, you’re usually getting 1 to 2 fuel points per dollar.  Occasionally, that will increase to 4x fuel points per dollar.  So on a $25 Disney gift card you will get 100 fuel points.

100 fuel points = 10 cents off every gallon on a single purchase of fuel.  This means that purchasing $250 worth of Disney gift cards gives you $1 off every gallon.

The average size of a minivan’s gas tank is 20 gallons.  That’s $20 off or 8% of $250.  If you have a bigger gas tank, then you’re better off.

Costco Wholesale

Costco’s merchandise is constantly changing, which makes this method a bit tricky to use if you don’t look hard enough or don’t live in the right area.

Previously, Costco offered discounted Disney park passes in select locations, particularly within California. As of recently, this is not the case. They also used to offer discounted Disney gift cards online, which again, is no longer available.

So, what deals can Costco offer you? As of right now, Costco Travel – an offspring of the Costco Wholesale company – has a ton of deals on Disney vacation packages. This ranges anywhere from Disneyland and Disney World Resorts, the Disney Cruise Lines, and other various Disney vacations.

All of these packages require you to be a Costco member. One of the best deals offered for many of these Costco travel vacations is the offer of the Costco Cash Card. When you book a certain Disney vacation on Costco Travel’s website, you will also receive a Costco Cash Card, which is a prepaid card filled with a set amount of cash (basically a gift card). Many of these Cash Cards are pre-filled with amounts like $2,000 and come attached to your booking.

We’ve now gone through a handful of different ways to acquire discounted Disney gift cards.  With a little leg work, you can maximize your savings on your Disney vacation before you even get there.  Do you have any favorite ways to save?

I understand that all of this can seem complicated, but once you get the hang of it, it’s super easy and can build up savings. 

A Few Additional Online Money-Saving Tools

These browser extensions can save you a ton of cash on purchases made online. When looking up Disney deals, it’s always a great idea to utilize one or more of these web applications on top of the great savings hack you found. That way, you’ll be doubly saving money! These browser extensions apply mainly to retail sites or specific products, so they can be helpful not only in securing your discounted Disney gift cards but in all other types of Disney purchases.

• Rakuten: Rakuten is a browser extension that offers you cash back rewards of varying percentages on different retail websites you visit. For example, currently, Rakuten offers up to 10% cash back on Walmart online and 1% cash back on the online Disney store. Almost every retail website has some sort of Rakuten cashback offer, so if you shop online often, these small percentage purchases will add up. Over time, you will have saved a boatload of cash.
  
  How it works: Download the Rakuten browser extension. When you enter any retailer site, a small notification in the top right corner will ask you to enable Rakuten. Simply click it and continue shopping. Eventually, after a few purchases using this tool, you can log in to your Rakuten account and see how much you’ve saved over time. Enter your address, and they will send you a check directly to your door!
• Honey: Honey is another great browser extension. After it’s downloaded, Honey will automatically pop up when you checkout at any online retailer site. The application will apply any coupon or promo codes to your cart.
  
  This can sometimes be hit or miss; you might get lucky and find a great promo code that will automatically give you a deal, or you might hit a wall and find that nothing applies to your purchase. Downloading this app is hassle-free and has saved me a few bucks in the past, so it doesn’t hurt to try!
• Qmee: Qmee is a browser extension and website that offers you deals and cash based on what you search for and which retail websites you visit. You can even take surveys to earn money! When you make an account on Qmee and download the browser extension, you can casually shop online and encounter random offers or deals without trying.
  
  How it works: Say you’re looking for a specific product, like Disney sweatpants. If you search for Disney sweatpants on Google, not only will you receive your search results, but a Qmee window will pop up on the left-hand side with the best deals it found for Disney sweatpants.
• A few retailers may even offer you a few cents if you check out the product on their site. Over time, the more you navigate to these sites, the more your savings will accumulate. It’s a slow and passive way to save, but a way to save nonetheless.

Money-saving browser extensions are the way to go if you’re thrifty and shop online often. These three web apps are valuable but only scratch the surface!

I recommend searching up other various money-saving browser extensions that may be useful to you in your quest to rack up the most cash and find the best discounted Disney gift cards.
